Founded in 1949, Concord College is a highly academic independent international school nestled in a beautiful 80 acre site in Shropshire. Concord has been voted one of the best independent schools in the country for a number of years, this year attaining 3rd place.
Having previously worked at the school, S+B were approached in January 2017 to discuss their laboratory furniture requirements in relation to the 22 new labs which were to be included on the upcoming project. We attended numerous design team meetings and held workshops with each department head in order to ensure that we had fully understood the brief. Over the course of these meetings S+B developed a strong working relationship with the client and gained an in depth understanding of their vision of how they would like to deliver sciences in the future.
S+B then designed a completely unique, bespoke furniture system to the clients precise specification. S+B were subsequently appointed directly by the client to supply the laboratory furniture and fume cupboards, working closely with the main contractor and Architect.
Concord College has recently been named as one of the top STEM schools in the country. Whilst this is obviously a huge accolade for the school, all at S+B are very proud of our involvement in the development of the bespoke specification and furniture system which has underpinned the schools goal of delivering STEM to the highest possible standard.
