The British School Barcelona City Main Campus

The British School Barcelona (BSB), part of the global private schools Cognita group, offers an outstanding British education in an international environment. With campuses spread across Castelldefels, Nexus, Sitges, and now the thriving BSB City, it nurtures students to become independent, globally aware thinkers.

The recent inauguration of the BSB City Main Campus in September 2023 stands as a testament to BSB’s commitment to academic growth in Barcelona. This campus symbolises innovation and comprehensive education, catering to students from Primary to Pre-University levels. It embodies BSB’s ethos, preparing students to be ‘world ready’ through the acquisition of knowledge, resilience, and forward-facing skills.

The new state-of-the-art building includes 5,600 m2 of indoor learning spaces designed according to innovative criteria encompassing education, sustainability, and comfort. These learning spaces include two science labs and a preparation room, designed by S+B UK in collaboration with the Cognita architectural team.

Featuring the SpaceStation and Saturn/Mercury systems integrated with perimeter benches, the labs foster collaboration and innovation. The integration of teaching walls, mobile teacher desks, tray units, and the Mobiline fume cupboard into the design reflects the fusion of academic ambition and functional design.

A calm and neutral colour scheme, coupled with abundant natural light reflecting off Corian worktops, creates an ambiance conducive to learning and exploration. Additional furniture design elements, such as moulded turrets, contribute to the space’s aesthetic appeal, generating a ‘Wow’ factor.

The successful launch of the BSB City Main Campus earned the school the esteemed Cognita Award 2023 for its significant contribution to outstanding growth. Being the only school in Catalonia rated as ‘Outstanding in every Category’ by the British government, this new campus reinforces its position as a premier international school in Barcelona and Catalonia.
