UCL Marshgate Fume Cupboards

The UCL Marshgate building is set to become the flagship of the UCL East campus, a world-class academic campus located in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

With over 34,000sqm spread over eight floors of academic space, the UCL East campus is part of an ambitious plan to create a hub for research and innovation in East London. The campus will provide opportunities for cross-disciplinary research, practical learning, public engagement, and sustainable student living spaces.

S+B worked in collaboration with architects Stanton Williams and Sheppard Robson, project managers Turner and Townsend and main contractor Mace, on the UCL Marshgate project. Our contribution involved the manufacturing and installation of 67 high-specification fume cupboards for a variety of laboratories.

Our scope of work included a combination of Ecoline benchtop and walk-in fume cupboards, fitted with automatically closing sashes to enhance user protection and specialist storage to ensures safe and secure storage of hazardous chemicals.

Designed to perform at face velocities of below 0.5m/sec, without compromising performance or operator protection, our fume cupboards are SEFA (Scientific Equipment and Furniture Association) accredited.

Our work on the UCL Marshgate project highlights our expertise in providing high-quality laboratory fume cupboards for academic and research environments.
