Newham College

Newham College is located in a wonderfully ornate Grade II listed brick and terracotta building dating back to 1905. After being vacated by Newham Council in 2009, the building subsequently fell into disrepair and made it on to English Heritage Buildings at Risk register. The London Borough of Newham appointed Rick Mather Architects to help deliver their vision of renovating the building and creating the provision for delivering state of the art learning facilities at their Sixth Form Centre.

S+B were contacted by Rick Mather Architects to aid them in the development of the specification and furniture system. The brief was that this was to be a flagship project which would make use of modern materials and fabrication methods. S+B delivered this vision in part through the extensive use of solid surface materials, fabricating unique elements such as service columns from the material as well as using for worktops throughout. S+B have a dedicated solid surface fabrication area in our factory with highly skilled operatives, this project required these operatives to work closely with our team of Product Engineers to design and manufacture the bespoke products via modern manufacturing techniques such as thermoforming and seamless jointing.

S+B are incredibly proud of this modern and contemporary looking installation as are the client team.
